Howdy Steve, can you post a screen-shot , or , describe the pc gobbledy-gook? Smile

Also, do you know which browser (internet explorer, firefox, chrome) or you using?

Thanks!

using chrome.....got all the formatting gumph. Verdana, san this and that, colour number, underline brackets etc etc.
Managed to post the naps update by finding the numbers in the script.
Was just wondering why it would happen. Not had it before.

Hi Steve,

Hmmm - sounds like a probably communications failure -- like some part of the original coding was dropped / missed off and it went ahead and rendered the rest of the page as it came through - but because the 'header' bit of code was missing (the bit which says "hey, this is a website, im going to tell you how to draw it") - it just went ahead and put out all the remaining 'web code' into the screen in front of you, un-formatted..

Pretty unusual and probably wont happen again..

If you *do* experience it again - please download and install 'Firefox' - which, despite Googles best efforts to tell you otherwise - is still a better browser! Smile

On recent Nap thread posts yes it's mucked up, not noticed it anywhere else though.

Hi steve,

i have modified your most recent posting on the 'Big Races' thread - removing the formatting for your stats and then re-doing them using Firefox, and indeed, you dont get all the gobble-de-gook on the screen.

I dont have Chrome to diagnose the problem, and as you area already planning on leaving Chrome then I can only suggest you expedite that move - I cannot re-create the problem in Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari.

=====
I just thought of something you could try;

when 'replying' to a thread, dont use the box at the bottom of the thread to type your message into, instead, press the 'Post Reply' button at the bottom of the thread (with the reply-box empty) and this will take you to another screen which is more orientated around actually writing a comprehensive response.

Underneath this new box are some tick-boxes with choices, one of them is "Disallow HTML code" - make sure this is *UN-TICKED* ... *not* ticked.

Cya!

Howdys.

Ive put a new 'theme' on the forum - partly to get rid of the annoying "Happy Christmas" message, partly because I think this theme is a little crisper, but also because I just realised this appears to be the 3rd year we've been using this and its probably time for a change Laughing Laughing

Any problems please reply to this thread - and we can still go back to the old theme if required.

HPK: I'm not sure when a post is edited the time of the edit is recorded/shown anywhere afterwards.
If this is so can you rectify it so editing times are shown - it's crucial for fair play - cheers.

Okey dokes - well, the 'newer' themes seem to have what I can only describe as a 'feature' - whereby if you dont enter a 'Reason for editing' the post when you do a edit, it just doesnt display anything about what was edited.

So I googled and added some code to the forum so that you are FORCED to put in a reason for editing  -- when you put in a reason for editing, it will always display to the other members that the post has been edited.

Fixed.

Whats going on with the forum??
First Angela's selections are blanked....and today mine have been blanked. Worked out for me as i had a poor day with 4 short-priced winners but this cost Angela a winning nap the other day.
Any reasons why this is happening Hugo??   confused confused confused confused
